American History and Community Guide

American History and Community Guide is an independent publication about patriotic stories, United States history, and military and veteran topics. It connects events and traditions with the sources that help explain them, without treating a slogan or a popular anecdote as a substitute for evidence.

People within their context

Patriotic stories can describe civic service, local traditions and the ways communities remember a shared event. Our approach asks who is telling the story, what records support it and which perspectives are missing from a familiar retelling.

The history section introduces documents, commemorations and historical interpretation. A guide may explain the background to a symbol or observance while recognising that its meaning can differ between places, periods and communities.

Military and veteran coverage focuses on understanding terminology, records, memorials and the sources available to readers. It does not determine an individual’s eligibility for a benefit or stand in for current information from the agency responsible for a programme.

Care with evidence

We aim to distinguish contemporary records from later recollections, and a documented fact from an interpretation of its significance. Where a narrative is contested, the relevant attribution and uncertainty should remain visible.

Readers researching a family history or a service record should confirm the details against appropriate archives. Personal records deserve careful handling, and a public editorial enquiry should not include confidential identity or service information.
