Jimmy Carter Has Cancer

Former President Jimmy Carter revealed today that he has cancer.

The Carter Center released a statement that the cancer was discovered in different parts of his body during an operation to remove a small mass from his liver.  The former President will be rearranging his schedule as necessary so he can undergo treatment at Emory Healthcare.  The Carter Center center also mentioned that more information will be provided possibly next week.

The statement makes it clear that Carter's cancer is widely spread from the location of where it originated.

Carter was the 39th President of the United States.  He is now 90 years old.  When Carter left the White House, he founded the center in Atlanta in 1982 to promote health care, democracy, and other issues globally.  He never seemed to slow down.
